
LP Martial Arts – Rules
Welcome to LP Martial Arts! Our mission is to help you fall in love with martial arts. We are excited to guide you on this incredible journey that will transform your physical skills, mental toughness, and emotional confidence. At LP, your training goes beyond the mat. You will be a part of a supportive community and build lasting friendships.
This student manual will provide all the information you will need to take control of your progress from day one.
Academy Rules
- No shoes on the mats.
- Be clean and maintain good hygiene.
- Remove jewelry and empty pockets prior to training.
- Always have a mindset of learning.
- Be courteous and respectful towards each other.
- Help promote a safe and friendly training environment.
- Treat all equipment with care.
Before Class:
For safety among many other reasons, members should take extra care in maintaining proper hygiene prior to class. The list below defines our hygiene policy for all members.
- Be clean.
- Do not participate in class if sick or contagious.
- Fingernails and toenails trimmed.
- Any open cuts or wounds should be properly sterilized and covered.
- Wear a clean shirt for each class when attending multiple classes.
- No shoes on the mats.
During Class:
Safety in training is undoubtedly our number one priority. We ask that every student always prioritize their safety as well as their training partner’s safety. The list below defines our safety expectations for all members.
- Leave your worries and ego at the door; be mentally ready to learn.
- Safety is paramount; remove all jewelry and items from your pockets.
- Inform instructors and training partners about any current injuries.
- Listen to instructions and safety tips attentively and practice proper technique.
- Treat training partners as allies on your journey to improvement. They are not your enemies.
After Class:
- Sanitize and return any equipment you have used.
- Dispose of trash, including empty drink bottles.
- Leave the academy cleaner than you found it.
- Take all your personal belongings. Any unclaimed items over thirty days may be discarded or donated.
Training Attire
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (GI):
- DO WEAR: A clean and washed Gi, rank-appropriate belt.
- DO NOT WEAR: Shoes or socks, a dirty Gi.
- Optional Equipment: Groin protection, mouth guard, ear protection.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (NOGI):
- DO WEAR: Clean rash guard or dry-fit shirt, grappling spats and/or shorts, Gi pants.
- DO NOT WEAR: Shoes or socks, clothes with buttons or zippers, excessively loose clothing.
- Optional Equipment: Groin protection, mouth guard, ear protection.
Krav Maga:
- DO WEAR: Comfortable workout clothes or street clothes.
- DO NOT WEAR: Shoes or socks, excessively dirty clothes.
- Required Equipment: Boxing gloves, shin guards.
- Optional Equipment: Mouth guard, groin protection.
Striking Class:
- DO WEAR: Clean workout clothes, MMA, Muay Thai, or Boxing shorts.
- DO NOT WEAR: Shoes or socks, excessively dirty clothes.
- Required Equipment: Boxing gloves, shin guards.
- Optional Equipment: Hand wraps.
